Margo Tresno Cave in Nganjuk Regency, East Java Province

There is even a local belief or rumor. It is said couples who conduct a ritual both in the cave and natural spring would get a long-lasting relationship. Also, according to the locals, the cave was once visited by Raden Alip (Demak’s noble) in order to conduct a hermitage. He spent this valuable time with their lover, too, namely Nur Siti. They prayed for eternal love and got away from the family issues. Their tombs can be found in that area, as well, which is called Makam Tlimah.

In terms of name, “Margo” means the way while “Tresno” means love. Both the history and mystical atmosphere become the prime allures in the cave. However, tourists also visit it for other reasons. For instance, they want to conduct photography and explore the cave thoroughly (both outside and inside).

How to Get There
Before heading to Margo Tresno Cave, tourists should head to Nganjuk Regency first. From Surabaya City, this trip would take around 2 hours and 3 minutes. It is because the distance is 112 km. As for the best route, tourists should take Surabaya – Mojokerto Highway first. Next, they must take Mojokerto – Kertosono Highway and head to the downtown right away. From Nganjuk, tourists only need to take Gondang – Ngluyu Street and head to the cave directly. The distance is 25.6 km, so this trip would take around 48 minutes.
